As GlobePreneurs, it is important to choose countries with have quality of life as we travel and live in different countries. What are your cities of choice? What is the most livable city in the world?

For the seventh year in a row, Melbourne is the world’s most livable city (according to The Economist Intelligence Unit Global Livability Ranking 2016 and 2017). Melbourne scored 97.5 out of 100.

With great coffee, great dining experiences, a lively music and arts scene and lots of safe, open space, it’s no surprise Melbourne is rated the most livable city for the seventh year in a row.

Here is a chart on the top 10 most livable cities:

The ranking is based on an assessment of which cities around the world provide the best or the worst living conditions – across five categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

Australia, Canada and EU were the top countries. No cities in the United States, Africa or Asia made it into the top 10.

Staying in South Africa I cannot imagine what it must feel like to live in a city that scores so well. Maybe we should consider immigrating to experience a secure well ordered existence with out crime and corruption.

No U.S. cities? Then I must REALLY need to visit these places to see the greatness about them. Thank you for this likst!

I was not surprised to hear how many Australian cities made it on the list as I have friends who say they have a great vibe. I am in London and that is not in the top 10 but again not surprised, London is hard to live in!

Right I must put Melbourne on my bucket list for the future . I do intend visiting Australia at some point and as there are several Australian cities on the list I feel confident it will be a successful trip.

I wouldn’t mind living in Toronto or Adelaide as I have tons of friends there. It is interesting to know all these amazing cities that made the list 🙂

I am curious to know what their methodology for the selections were. Did they have any particular critera or was it merely a matter of opinion. And did they rate the storeis at all?

Out of your list I have visited Toronto and I can understand why it is listed there. I really enjoyed walking on its streets and enjoying the local life, feeling safe at the same time.

Interesting list! No city from the Netherlands I see :). It surprises me though, that there isn’t any city from the USA in there.
I’ve been to Vienna. It’s a wonderful and nice city! Well, I guess I should move now :). Find a home in one of these cities.

My dream is to move out to Australia because of the way of living there so I’m not surprised Melbourne came top with a few other Australian cities in the list too. I’m quite interested to know where my city came in relation to these, was it just a top 10? Or where there more rankings?

I’m from near Melbourne and I always smile to see it on the list. Melbournians are always so proud to be there. It is a great city. But so expensive! The cost of living is so high, and property is getting more expensive. But I guess everything is comparative. Right now I live in Berlin, and love it!

I am not sure I agree with these reports, I saw one the other day that included Dublin and Cape Town in the top 10. When I look at this particular list, i think they may be live-able but also expensive to live in too!

I love how these days we have access to visit and travel so many cities. Having options to live in different cities is great.

My boss lived in Melbourne and he always spoke so highly of it. No surprise it made the number one spot!

Unfortunately I don’t see any US cities being on here in the near future (I’m American). Some Americans might strongly consider moving to these cities.

I’m from Asia, but was surprised to see that there is no US city on that list.

Gotta say, I’m a bit miffed that Amsterdam is not on the list, it’s such a great place. Oh well, maybe next time 🙂

I’ve never been to Melbourne, but I surely did visit Vienna for several times. The city is just extraordinary and I keep coming back to it. I know it has been ranked high on the list, but I also did not know that Melbourne was first. I have a wish to visit it, at least once in my lifetime.

Doesn’t really surprise me that Dubai isn’t on the list but I still love (most parts of) living here, although I sometimes wish I could go back to how it was 15 years ago.

At least the city we want to move to in a few years has made the list though!

Interesting to see Hamburg there. I live in Germany and would have expected something like Berlin or Frankfurt. The shocker is America isn’t on the list. Sad is neither is Africa.

Surprised to see that not even a single city in the United States can make it to this list! I’ll be visiting Aukland next year and can’t wait to explore it!

I’m so surprised there wasn’t one city in the U.S! We have friends whose daughter lives Melbourne. Now that there are grandchildren in the picture, they’ve been traveling there more and more often. They can’t say enough great things about it. I’d love to go one day!

I live just outside of Toronto and I can totally see why it made its way onto the list! Toronto and the area are great – there are so many things going on that really make it such a fantastic area. I will need to visit some of those other places to see why they’re so amazing!
